In between Frances the Mute and The Mars Volta’s third album, Amputechture, they released an interesting live album called Scab Dates.
Created out of various live recordings, Scab Dates was the live album Mars Volta co-founder, Omar Rodriguez-Lopez, wanted to make. It wasn’t a cookie-cutter “LIVE IN LOS ANGELES!” release, and even had back stage shenanigans spliced in with the music. Surprisingly, my favorite part off the entire album can be heard at the beginning of the new comedy, Get Him to the Greek. Awesome.
It’s a very interesting listen. Today’s Song of the Day is Tremulant’s “Concertina” from Scab Dates.
Enjoy.
