Rising out of the ashes of At the Drive-in, The Mars Volta’s debut album, Deloused in the Comatorium, made me giddy like a boy touching his first boob.
I had been listening to their 3-tracked Tremulant EP over and over for the better part of a year, and my anticipation for their first album was palpable. That shit was thick.
When I finally got my hands on Deloused in the summer of 2003, my enthusiasm was met with every ounce of magic the album produced.
The ten tracks that made up the sweeping concept album were as amazing as I had hoped. Shoot, even more so. From the first track to the last, the story told is still one of my favorite albums of all time.
Today’s Song of the Day is the closing track off Deloused in the Comatorium. Prepare for the steller song that is “Take the Veil Cerpin Taxt.”
Enjoy.
