While I was studying Japanese, I went on a crazy “I need Japanese folk-pop musicians now” phase and found the wonderfully inspiring Shugo Tokumaru. I would classify his style as “progressive folk.” He’s only 30 years old and kind of makes me wish I started playing music when I was younger. Shoot, I’m almost 30, if only I could make music this beautiful.
He’s released a new album over in Japan, but there is no word on when it will come out over here. For now, take a listen to “Parachute,” from his third album, Exit.
Enjoy.
